Our Story

How It Began

I.

October 2023

Forged in fire

Jacob and Shira became an official couple on October 1st, 2023. Six days later, tragedy hit Israel and Jacob was called up for reserve duty. They spent their first three months apart, barely able to speak — and it only brought them closer.

II.

The Years Since

Each other's constant

Through missile barrages, 250 days of reserve duty and the demands of their careers, they have stood by each other. Now they will exchange rings — quite literally forged in fire — and begin married life in Israel, where they built their love.

III.

The Proposal

"Do you still think there's a dinner?"

On July 15th, Shira thought they were headed to Jacob's company dinner in Old Yaffo. When his boss Amir, camera in hand, suggested a photo at the view in HaPisga Garden, she suspected nothing. Overlooking Tel Aviv, Jacob turned to her — there was no dinner. "Shira Yovel Hovav, will you marry me?" Through tears, she said yes.
